Who knew the library was so much fun?

Once again, we had a snowy weekend and were looking for ways to entertain the kiddos. So, I decided to try story time at the library. Notice that none of the pictures are of story time...that is because my children did not want any part of it. There were too many other fun things to do while at the library. Here is Drew taking a break from running all over the place to check out a fun book!

Jack playing in the pretend kitchen. He liked taking all of the food out of the shopping basket, telling us what each thing was, and then packing it all back in the basket. (BTW...look how lean my big boy is looking. He has grown so much taller and has lost that cute, fat baby belly. Who would have ever thought that fat baby from a few years ago would turn into such a grown up little boy?)
Mike and Drew checking out the computer and headphones.

A train table...AWESOME! Of course, what you can't see here is that every time Jack would build the track, Drew would destroy it. If Jack put a train car down, Drew would go over, pick it up and then throw it on the ground. They didn't play together long at the train table.

The library had LOTS of fun puzzles. They have just about every Melissa and Doug puzzle made so Jack and Drew were in heaven. Jack LOVES puzzles and Drew is just beginning to get the hang of them.

Happy Birthday Mike!

Happy birthday Mike!!! I think Jack was more excited about Daddy's birthday than Daddy was. Jack told me on the way to school that morning that we had to have balloons and party hats for Daddy's party. So I made sure that when Jack got home that evening there were balloons and hats ready to go. Jack was so anxious for Mike to get home. He told me, "Momma, Daddy needs to get home so we can get this party started!" I about fell on the floor laughing. He is so my child...he loves presents and parties!
Jack orchestrated the whole evening, he told us when to put our hats on, when to open presents, he tolerated the fact that we had to eat dinner (meatloaf, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, green beans, and rolls...all of Mike's faves!) but nothing excited him more than singing Happy Birthday and helping Daddy blow out the candles.
We had some friends come over and help us celebrate. All of the kids were fairly well behaved and we had a great time! Now Jack is already talking about his birthday party...every morning he wakes up and asks if it is time for his party yet. What am I going to do with this boy??

Working at home with Mom

It seems like ever since 2010 began, I have had a sick child every week! We go next month to see if Drew has asthma because he keeps getting bronchitis and has to have breathing treatments every 4 hours to help him breathe. At first I was terrified of the prospect of Drew having asthma but as the weeks pass by I can now recognize the symptoms and we have a machine at home to do breathing treatments. Drew will actually help me hold the mask on his face (it is very cute!) and is fine as long as I have something good to watch on TV...like Mickey.
Here is a picture of Drew helping me work from home on one of his many days of not being able to go to school. He is such a great helper!!

Potty Training is FUN!

Are you seriously taking a picture of me? I'm working on something here!

So we have started potty-training at home. Jack has been going on the big boy potty at daycare for a while now but would not sit on the big boy potty at home at all. So, after reading a good book about potty training just for boys we started the process in mid-January. After two weeks of talking about the potty and asking Jack is he wanted to sit on the potty, he finally said 'yes'! What an exciting night for us!! He knows how to lift the lid, pull out his 'special' seat and put it on the toilet. He still needs help with his pants but once he gets on the potty he knows to 'push his wee-wee down'. He even asked for a book to read while sitting on the potty. Sometimes he will sit up there for 5 minutes and just hang out without peeing. Other times we actually manage to go potty in the potty! We clap and celebrate and Jack will tell anyone who will listen about sitting on the big boy potty. He even told Uncle Spike on the phone that when you go potty you got to 'push your wee-wee down.' Hilarious!!!

We are no where near being potty-trained but are taking baby steps!

More snow!

Jack and Dad posing in the snow. They were on their way to the park to see if they find a place to sled. I think Jack made it one time on the sled before he told Mike he wanted to go to 'Jack's house.' I think he gets his 'love' for snow from his Momma!

We bundled the boys up so they could go out and play in the snow...not an easy task at all. Drew didn't want to keep his hat on, Jack didn't want anything covering his ears, etc. We finally get them outside and load them up on the sled for Mike to pull them around. Drew was having NONE of it and they didn't even make it to the end of our walkway before he bolted off the sled. Mike continued pulling Jack and everything was going great until they hit a bump in the sidewalk and Jack faceplanted in the snow. He cried the rest of the way home and it took a lot of coaxing from Mike to get him back out in the snow!

Some fun at the park

It seems like January has just flown by...without much new to post! We have had snow, snow and more snow. Mike was in Vegas for a week early in the month working and the kids and I had a fun week in the cold here in Lexington. After many weeks of sub-artic temperatures, we finally had one weekend where the weather was nice enough to go to the park. The kids were SO excited to be outside and had so much fun playing and going on a nature walk. We are so ready for Spring to get here!!!

Jack and Daddy Rocking Out!

For Christmas Mike got Beatles Rock Band for the Wii. As soon as we got home from Atlanta, Jack and Mike tried out the new game. At first Jack accompanied Dad with his piano from Pa and Mimi. But after a couple of songs, Jack was ready to try his hand at the guitar. He LOVES playing games with Daddy!
